Porte Rouge DISCRETE - Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2022

Porte Rouge Discrète 2022 is a remarkably limited Châteauneuf-du-Pape that stands out for its unusual make-up, led by 90% Syrah rather than the more typical Grenache-driven blend. Sourced from a small parcel in Piedlong, in the northern part of the appellation, this cuvée reflects both freshness and ripeness in a style that feels precise, refined, and distinctly modern while still rooted in the prestige of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, La Discrète shows a deep garnet color that hints at its concentration and depth. The nose is intense and expressive, with aromas of black fruits and a subtle green pepper note adding lift and complexity. On the palate, the wine is concentrated yet elegant, with silky, rounded tannins that give it a polished texture. The finish is long and spicy, with lingering savory notes. This is a wine with excellent cellaring potential, capable of developing beautifully over 15 to 20 years from the vintage.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from a small parcel in the lieu-dit Piedlong, in the northern sector of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a site prized for balancing freshness with full ripeness. The fruit is harvested by hand and fully destemmed before undergoing around three weeks of maceration. The wine is then aged for 24 months in used Burgundy oak barrels, a choice that supports complexity and elegance without overpowering the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is a natural match for rich, flavorful dishes such as roast lamb, beef short ribs, game, or duck with herbs and spices. It also pairs beautifully with truffle dishes, mushroom risotto, and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for a couple of hours is recommended to allow the aromatics and texture to open fully.
