R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia Rosado Gran Reserva 2011 is a rare and highly distinctive rosé from one of Rioja’s most revered names. Crafted from Garnacha, Tempranillo and Viura, it stands apart for its long ageing and remarkable complexity, offering a style of rosé that is as serious as it is unique. The 2011 vintage reflects the estate’s historic approach, where patience and traditional winemaking are central to the wine’s character.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this rosado shows a beautiful, elegant colour with the kind of depth you only get from extended ageing. On the nose, it is fresh and lifted, yet layered with savoury nuances, dried fruit tones and subtle oxidative complexity that add intrigue rather than weight. The palate is persistent and refined, balancing fullness with vivid freshness and a long, complex finish. There is excellent structure here, along with a nuanced, mature profile that will continue to reward careful cellaring for several years, though it is already wonderfully expressive now.

Viininvalmistus
This wine comes from López de Heredia’s historic Rioja vineyards, where traditional viticulture and a long, unhurried élevage define the estate’s style. The blend is composed of 60% Garnacha, 30% Tempranillo and 10% Viura, and the wine is aged for four years in oak barrels before spending additional time maturing in bottle prior to release. That extended ageing gives the wine its layered texture, subtle complexity and distinctive old-world character.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve slightly chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, to allow the wine’s freshness and complexity to shine. It pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, grilled salmon, charcuterie, mushroom dishes and Mediterranean cuisine, and benefits from a brief decant if served young or from a cooler cellar to open up its aromas.
