Domaine Raveneau’s 1983 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos is a rare, cellar-aged expression of one of Chablis’ most celebrated sites. After more than four decades in bottle, it shows the depth, precision, and longevity that have made Raveneau a benchmark for serious Chardonnay collectors.

In the glass, the wine remains remarkably alive, with a mature golden hue that reflects its age and evolution. The nose is deeply layered, offering dried fruit, beeswax, smoky nuts, and a distinct chalky mineral edge that speaks clearly of Les Clos. On the palate, it is round, saline, and complex, with balanced acidity carrying the wine through a long, thoughtful finish. This is a fully mature wine, yet one that still has enough vitality to remain compelling and expressive for the experienced drinker. Its ageing potential is now at the late mature stage: while it may continue to develop nuance over time, it is best appreciated for its current harmony, texture, and tertiary complexity.

Les Clos is one of the grand cru vineyards of Chablis, known for its powerful, structured wines shaped by Kimmeridgian limestone soils and a cool northern Burgundy climate. Although detailed vineyard and vinification notes for this specific bottle are limited, Raveneau is known for careful hand-harvesting and traditional cellar work that emphasizes purity, texture, and site expression.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best served lightly chilled, around 10–12°C, to preserve its aromatic detail and fine acidity. A gentle decant may help open the wine if it appears closed on first pour, but older bottles should be handled carefully. It pairs beautifully with scallops, lobster, turbot, grilled sole, creamy poultry dishes, or aged hard cheeses.
