Deep, inky and concentrated in appearance, this 2019 Cabernet opens with an expressive nose of blackberry liqueur, dark chocolate, fresh tobacco, tar and warm spice. On the palate it is rich and full-bodied, echoing the aromas while layering in notes of licorice, pencil lead and crushed stone. The wine has a powerful, structured feel and is clearly built for the long haul, with the potential to develop even greater complexity over the next 2–3 years and beyond. The small addition of Petit Verdot adds extra color, lift and grip, helping to frame the wine’s intensity and reinforce its aging potential.
