Realm The Bard 2021

Realm The Bard 2021 is a bold yet refined California red inspired by the great wines of Bordeaux’s Left Bank. Crafted by winemaker Benoit Touquette, it combines fruit from some of Napa Valley’s most respected sites with the structure, elegance, and age-worthy character that have made The Bard one of Realm’s most admired bottlings since its debut vintage in 2003.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, The Bard shows deep, concentrated color that hints at its ripe, powerful profile. The nose opens with dark cherries, blackberries, sun-warmed earth, violets, and a subtle pencil-led character that gives the wine a distinctly классic Cabernet impression. On the palate, red cherry takes the lead over darker fruit, supported by layers of floral and earthy nuance carried over from the bouquet. The tannins are present and finely etched, giving the wine a structured, slightly dusty feel that reflects its Left Bank inspiration. There is plenty to enjoy now, but it should also reward another 2–3 years in bottle and continue to develop gracefully beyond that.

Viininvalmistus
The Bard is sourced from standout Napa Valley vineyards, including Beckstoffer To Kalon, Houyi, Weitz, and Blair Vineyard. These sites contribute fruit with depth, concentration, and a strong sense of place, while the wine’s style is clearly shaped by Bordeaux-inspired vinification and careful blending. The result is a polished, structured red that balances ripeness with freshness and classic tannic drive.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, roast lamb, duck breast, beef short ribs, or mushroom-based dishes with plenty of umami. Serve at around 16–18°C for the best expression of fruit and structure. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially if opening it young, to help the aromatics unfold and soften the tannins.
