Ridge Vineyards Geyserville 2022 Magnum is one of California’s most iconic Zinfandel-based wines, long celebrated for its consistency, depth, and outstanding critical reputation. First produced from the historic Geyserville Vineyard in 1966, it brings together old-vine character, thoughtful blending, and Ridge’s hallmark sense of balance, making it a benchmark expression of classic Sonoma County Zin.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep dark ruby color that hints at its concentration and richness. The nose opens with dark cherries, warm spice, cola, mint, and a subtle earthy note, giving it both lift and complexity. On the palate, ripe dark fruit leads the way, followed by layers of pomegranate, rose petals, cocoa, and a touch of smoky character through the long finish. Despite its power, the wine remains impressively balanced and refined, with enough structure and freshness to age gracefully for several years.

Viininvalmistus
Geyserville Vineyard in Sonoma County is home to some of Ridge’s oldest vines, with certain parcels reaching up to 130 years of age. The blend is typically led by around 70% Zinfandel, supported by Carignan, Petite Sirah, and Alicante Bouschet, with the exact proportions adjusted slightly from vintage to vintage. The wine is aged for 13 months in American oak, with only about 10% new barrels, allowing the character of the fruit and the historic vineyard to remain front and center.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural partner for grilled meats, barbecue, braised short ribs, roasted lamb, or rich Mediterranean dishes with herbs and spice. It also works beautifully with aged hard cheeses and smoky sausage dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for about an hour is recommended, especially for a magnum, to let the wine fully open up.
