Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello 2019

Ridge Monte Bello 2019 is one of California’s most iconic fine wines, a benchmark Bordeaux-style blend that has earned legendary status since its first release in 1962. Sourced from the historic Monte Bello Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains, it combines precision, depth, and remarkable elegance, with a style that speaks as much to finesse as to power. This is a wine with real pedigree and serious aging potential.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a dark ruby-red core that hints at its concentration and youthful energy. The nose is beautifully layered with ripe plum, blackberry, espresso, black truffle, anise, crushed stone, and subtle toasted oak, creating a bouquet that feels both rich and lifted. On the palate, Monte Bello 2019 is full-bodied and powerful, yet impeccably balanced, with dark fruit at the center and savory, mineral-driven nuances weaving through the finish. The structure is firm and the wine is still very young, suggesting many years of development ahead. With time in bottle, it will gain even greater complexity, polish, and harmony.

Viininvalmistus
Monte Bello Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains has been associated with winegrowing since 1886, and its elevated, cool-climate setting gives the wine its distinctive refinement and tension. For this vintage, Ridge crafted a classic Bordeaux-inspired blend primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and aged it for 17 months in 100% new, air-dried oak barrels. The result is a wine shaped by meticulous vineyard selection and carefully judged élevage.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine for deeply flavored dishes such as grilled ribeye, lamb rack, braised short ribs, or wild mushroom dishes with rich sauces. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours when young to allow the wine to open fully.
