Ridge Vineyards’ Petite Sirah Lytton Estate 2021 is a standout single-vineyard wine from one of California’s most respected producers. Sourced from the historic Lytton Springs vineyard, where Petite Sirah was first planted in 1901, this small-batch bottling shows the variety at its most expressive, with remarkable depth, precision, and value.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine is nearly opaque, showing a deep dark core with a vivid purple rim. The nose is intensely aromatic, opening with blue fruit, leather, liquorice, lavender, menthol, and a subtle earthy, gravelly edge. The palate is broad and powerful, yet carefully controlled, with the aromatic notes carrying through in a layered and cohesive way. It has the dense, mouth-filling structure Petite Sirah is known for, balanced by freshness and savory nuance. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, and it should evolve beautifully over the next several years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the Lytton Springs vineyard in Sonoma County, a site with deep historic roots and plantings dating back to 1901. The vineyard is farmed sustainably, and the fruit is destemmed before fermentation. Ridge uses whole berries and gentle pump-overs to extract only what is needed from the skins, preserving purity and balance. After fermentation, the wine matures for 16 months in American oak barrels, 15% of them new.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Petite Sirah is a natural partner for grilled or roasted meats, barbecue, lamb, short ribs, and rich mushroom dishes. It also works well with hard cheeses and hearty stews. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended to allow the aromas and structure to fully open.
