Ryan Vineyard Pinot Noir 2010 from Calera is a dark, intensely flavored expression of Pinot Noir from Mount Harlan, showing just how compelling this site can be. Planted in 1998, Ryan Vineyard is still relatively young, yet it already delivers the mineral edge and depth that have made this part of California so admired. This vintage was crafted with careful cellar work to balance power, complexity, and structure.

Makuprofiili
The wine pours an almost inky, blackish color, immediately hinting at its depth and concentration. On the nose, it opens generously with dark plum, black cherry, and cloudberry, layered with violet, sandalwood, and an earthy mineral nuance that reflects its Mount Harlan origins. The palate follows through with rich dark fruit, joined by notes of licorice and nutmeg, giving the wine both warmth and spice. Despite its intensity, the wine remains finely balanced and is drinking well now, while still having the structure to develop beautifully for another 15 years.

Ryan Vineyard was planted in 1998 on the mineral-driven slopes of Mount Harlan in California, a site known for producing Pinot Noir with tension, freshness, and a distinctive rocky character. For this vintage, 70% of the clusters were fermented whole, adding texture and aromatic complexity, and the wine was aged for 20 months in French oak, including 30% new barrels, to build depth without overwhelming the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roasted duck, game birds, mushroom dishes, venison, or rich salmon preparations. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if opening the wine now, especially to allow its darker aromas and layered spice to fully unfold.
