Calera Ryan Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

Calera Ryan Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017 is a powerful, deeply colored expression of Pinot Noir from one of Mount Harlan’s most distinctive sites. Planted in 1998, Ryan Vineyard may be relatively young, but it already delivers the mineral tension and dark-fruited complexity that have made this mountain appellation so admired.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine appears almost inky, hinting at its concentration before the first sip. The nose is generous and layered, opening with dark plums, black cherries and mulberries, followed by floral notes of violet and a subtle lift of sandalwood. On the palate, the wine is rich and persistent, with the dark fruit returning alongside accents of licorice and nutmeg. It has the structure and freshness to age gracefully, and while it is drinking well now, it should continue to develop for another 15 years or more.

Viininvalmistus
Ryan Vineyard was planted in 1998 on the mineral-rich slopes of Mount Harlan in California, a site known for producing Pinot Noir with a distinctive rocky, restrained edge. In this vintage, 70% of the clusters were fermented whole, and the wine was then matured for 20 months in French oak, with 30% new barrels used to add depth and texture.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with duck, roast poultry, mushroom dishes, game birds, and earthy preparations such as truffle risotto or lentils with herbs. Serve at around 16–18°C; decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if opening the wine young to help it fully open up.
