Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia, Bolgheri Rosso DOC 2022

Tenuta San Guido’s Sassicaia is one of the great names in world wine, and the 2022 vintage continues its reputation for elegance, precision, and remarkable depth. Born in the coastal Bolgheri hills of Tuscany, this Cabernet Sauvignon- and Cabernet Franc-based icon helped redefine Italian fine wine and became the first wine in Italy to earn its own DOC, Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Sassicaia 2022 shows a deep, polished ruby hue that hints at its concentration and freshness. The nose is refined and layered, with dark berries, ripe blackcurrant, and cherry leading into subtle notes of cedar, graphite, tobacco, and delicate spice. On the palate, the wine is silky, focused, and beautifully balanced, combining ripe fruit with a precise tannic structure and a long, clean finish. It has the poise of a classic Sassicaia: powerful without weight, and built to evolve gracefully over many years in the cellar.

Viininvalmistus
Sassicaia comes from the celebrated vineyards of Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri, where the maritime climate, mineral-rich soils, and warm Tuscan sunshine create ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The grapes are carefully harvested to preserve freshness and aromatic complexity, then vinified with a focus on purity, structure, and elegance, resulting in a wine that captures both the power of the site and the finesse of the producer’s style.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a superb match for grilled or roasted red meats, game, lamb, and rich Tuscan dishes such as pappardelle with wild boar ragu or bistecca alla Fiorentina. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours if opening young, to allow the wine’s aromatic layers and tannins to fully open.
