Cantina Tramin’s Lagrein 2024 is a vivid expression of one of Alto Adige’s most distinctive native red grapes. Sourced from the cool, mountainous Trentino-Alto Adige region, it combines regional character with the winery’s polished, modern style. Lagrein has deep historical roots in northern Italy and is prized for producing reds with structure, freshness, and a naturally savory edge.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Lagrein typically shows a deep ruby to dark garnet color, often with nearly opaque intensity. The nose is expected to offer dark berries, black cherry, violet, and hints of spice, cocoa, and earthy undertones, all framed by the freshness that is characteristic of mountain-grown reds. On the palate, Lagrein is usually full-bodied and supple, with ripe plum and blackberry fruit, firm but approachable tannins, and a lively line of acidity that keeps it balanced. It often finishes with notes of dark chocolate, pepper, and mineral nuance. While enjoyable young for its freshness and fruit, it can also gain complexity with a few years of cellaring.

Viininvalmistus
As an Alto Adige red, this wine benefits from the region’s Alpine climate, where warm days and cool nights help preserve acidity while allowing the grapes to ripen fully. The vineyards are typically influenced by well-drained soils and mountain air, which contribute to the variety’s freshness and depth. Harvesting is generally done with care to select fully ripe fruit, followed by controlled fermentation and aging designed to soften tannins while retaining the grape’s natural character and aromatic purity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted meats, grilled sausages, game, mushroom risotto, and richly flavored pasta dishes, as well as aged cheeses. Serve it slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, to highlight both fruit and structure. Decanting for 30 minutes can be helpful if enjoyed young, allowing the wine to open and show more detail.
