Usseglio, Pierre CNDP - Reserve des Deux Freres 2000

Usseglio Pierre Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve des Deux Frères 2000 is a standout Grenache-driven red from one of the appellation’s most admired old-vine parcels. Produced in very limited quantities and aged in old barrels, it has earned a reputation for exceptional concentration, generous texture, and impressive longevity, with critics singling it out as a wine of the vintage.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep inky-purple color that hints at its richness and power. The nose is lush and expressive, with layers of blackberry, cherry, and raspberry liqueur lifted by notes of licorice, mineral tones, and acacia flower. On the palate, this is a full-bodied and voluptuous Châteauneuf-du-Pape with remarkable depth, sweet tannins, and a flamboyant, expansive personality. The 2000 vintage has the structure to age beautifully, and while it has long been in its drinking window, it should continue to show well for those who appreciate mature Grenache-based wines.

Viininvalmistus
This wine comes from the estate’s oldest vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a terroir known for its sun-drenched climate, stony soils, and naturally low yields. The blend is predominantly Grenache, supported by a touch of Cinsault, and the wine is matured in old barrels to preserve purity of fruit while adding texture and complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best served with rich dishes such as roasted lamb, beef short ribs, game, or braised meats, as well as truffle-based dishes and mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if the bottle has been stored for a long time, to allow the aromatics to fully open.
