Walter Hansel Rosé of Pinot 2022

Walter Hansel Rosé of Pinot 2022 is a lively, elegant rosé from Sonoma County that turns Pinot Noir into something bright, refined, and irresistibly drinkable. First made as a small experiment in 2013, it has since become a standout wine in the Hansel range, thanks to its late-harvest fruit, whole-cluster pressing, and subtle touch of Pinot barrel wine for added color and character.

Makuprofiili
Pale salmon in the glass, this rosé opens with a fresh, lifted nose of cranberry, strawberry, raspberry, watermelon, and soft summer flowers. It feels fragrant and energetic rather than overly fruity, with a clean, precise profile that immediately suggests warmth and sunshine. On the palate, the wine is crisp and refreshing, echoing strawberry and watermelon, then adding notes of grenadine, white pepper, and a hint of citrus on the finish. It has a dry, mouthwatering style with enough texture to keep it interesting, and while it is made for early enjoyment, it should hold its charm over the short term if properly stored.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes from Pinot Noir rows that ripened more slowly than usual, allowing Stephen Hansel to leave the grapes hanging until October for extra flavor development. The wine is pressed in whole clusters, a method Hansel more commonly associates with Chardonnay, and after fermentation a small amount of Pinot barrel wine is added to deepen the color and complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an easygoing summer wine that works beautifully with grilled prawns, niçoise salad, charcuterie, smoked salmon, light pasta dishes, or fresh goat cheese. Serve chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and there is no need to decant it—just open and enjoy while it is cool and vibrant.
