E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 2001 is one of the great wines of the northern Rhône, crafted from a distinctive blend of around 89% Syrah and 11% Viognier. Sourced from one of the most revered single vineyards in Côte-Rôtie, it combines power, perfume, and finesse in a style that has become iconic for the region.

In the glass, this 2001 shows a deep ruby color that hints at its concentration and maturity. The nose is highly expressive, with layered aromas of raspberry, violet, smoked meat, olive, and warm spices, all lifted by the subtle floral note that Viognier brings to the blend. The palate is full-bodied yet refined, with supple tannins and a beautifully balanced structure. Intense dark fruit, savory spice, and a gentle smoky character carry through to a long, harmonious finish. Now drinking beautifully, it has reached a mature stage but still offers enough depth to continue evolving over the next few years.

Viininvalmistus
La Mouline comes from a celebrated Côte-Rôtie vineyard in the northern Rhône, where steep, sun-exposed slopes and carefully worked parcels help produce wines of remarkable character. The grapes are hand-harvested and co-fermented, before the wine is aged for around 42 months in new French oak barrels, a long maturation that adds polish, complexity, and depth to the final wine.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs exceptionally well with lamb, game, and richly flavored beef dishes, where its savory notes and elegant structure can shine. Serve it at 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended to help it open up and reveal its full aromatic complexity.
