E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque 1994 is a benchmark Northern Rhône red from one of the region’s most celebrated vineyards, crafted mainly from Syrah with a touch of Viognier. Sourced from the steep slopes of Côte Brune and aged extensively in new French oak, it reflects the depth, elegance, and longevity that have made La Turque one of Guigal’s most sought-after wines.

In the glass, this 1994 vintage shows a deep ruby color with remarkable concentration and maturity. The nose is layered and complex, offering blackberries, licorice, truffles, spice, and a subtle mineral edge that speaks to its hillside origin. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and richly textured, with ripe dark fruit, a gentle smoky note, integrated oak, and a long finish colored by cocoa and warm spice. The tannins are now soft and refined, giving the wine a harmonious structure while still preserving freshness and complexity. It is drinking beautifully today, though it still has the depth and balance to continue evolving gracefully.

Viininvalmistus
La Turque comes from the steep Côte Brune in Côte-Rôtie, where the rocky, sun-exposed terroir helps produce wines of power, perfume, and mineral intensity. The grapes were hand-harvested and co-fermented, with approximately 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier, before the wine spent around 42 months aging in new French oak barrels to build structure, complexity, and polish.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with richly flavored dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison, duck breast, or game birds, as well as mushroom-based dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least an hour if opening a bottle that is still youthful or tightly knit.
