Maçanita Letra F 2022

Maçanita Letra F 2022 is a vibrant red from Portugal’s Douro, crafted by the sibling duo Joana and António Maçanita. Built from Tempranillo and Touriga Nacional, it combines mountain freshness, mineral precision, and the character of old vines in one expressive bottle.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows an open ruby-red colour that hints at its energetic style. The nose is lifted and refined, with mineral notes, white flowers, and bright red fruit. On the palate, the wine is fresh and lively, with a marked acidity that brings definition and drive. There is also a sense of intensity and concentration, likely drawn from the old vines, while the stainless-steel ageing helps preserve its clean, youthful profile. It should drink beautifully now, but can also gain a little extra complexity with short-term cellaring.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the Cima Corgo area of the Douro, where granite-rich soils and high-altitude vineyards between 480 and 720 metres help preserve freshness and add a distinct mineral edge. The fruit is hand-harvested, then given a cold pre-maceration before spontaneous fermentation in small lagares. The wine remains on the skins for 28 days, then ages for 12 months in stainless steel to keep its lively fruit and crisp structure intact.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs well with dark meats, tartare, grilled dishes, cheeses, and even lightly sweet desserts. Serve at around 16°C and enjoy at about 18°C; decanting is not essential, but a short aeration may help the aromatics open up.
