Maçanita Tinto 2021

Maçanita Tinto 2021 is a lively, modern expression of the Douro, showing the region’s natural power with a fresher, more fruit-driven touch. Made from Touriga Nacional and shaped by high-altitude vineyards in Cima Corgo, it offers the precision, energy, and elegance that make Maçanita’s wines so distinctive. It is a contemporary Douro red with clear regional identity and a beautifully drinkable style.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a bright, youthful ruby-red color. The nose opens with dark cherry, violet, forest floor, and a subtle layer of cocoa and pepper, giving the wine both freshness and complexity. On the palate, it is juicy and medium-bodied, with ripe tannins and vibrant acidity that keep the wine focused and balanced rather than heavy. The fruit remains pure and expressive through the finish, and while approachable now, it should also develop nicely over the next few years, gaining more depth and complexity.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from higher-altitude parcels in Cima Corgo, where granite-rich soils help give the wine finesse, lift, and a more refined mineral edge. The fruit is harvested with care and vinified using gentle extraction to preserve freshness and varietal character. A portion of the wine is aged in used barrels, adding subtle texture without masking the purity of the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a versatile red that pairs well with roast lamb, grilled pork, charcuterie, mushroom dishes, and richly seasoned poultry. It can also handle Portuguese cuisine beautifully, especially dishes with herbs, garlic, and slow-cooked flavors. Serve it at 16–18°C, and decanting for about 30 minutes is recommended if you want to open up its aromas and soften the structure.

Their work has made them one of the most interesting and respected names among Portugal’s new generation of producers.
