Taylor's Fladgate Single Harvest 1863

Taylor’s Fladgate Single Harvest 1863 is an extraordinary single-vintage Tawny Port from one of the most revered houses in the Douro. Drawn from casks with a provenance stretching back to the 19th century, it offers a rare glimpse into Port history, combining remarkable concentration, profound maturity, and the elegance that defines great old fortified wine.

Makuprofiili
Deep amber-brown in color with an olive-tinted rim, this wine shows the unmistakable appearance of a very old Tawny Port. The nose is layered and intensely evolved, with notes of dried fruits, caramelized nuts, old wood, toffee, spice, and a subtle savory depth that speaks to its age and complexity. On the palate, it is dense, viscous, and remarkably vibrant for such an ancient wine, with residual sweetness balanced by acidity and a long, lingering finish. There is a sense of concentration and lift throughout, with flavors unfolding slowly and persisting beautifully. Thanks to its fortified structure and long maturation, it is exceptionally long-lived, though it is already at a magnificent peak of maturity.

Produced in the Douro, one of the world’s most historic fortified-wine regions, this Single Harvest Port reflects the old-vine tradition and steep, schist-rich terroirs that define Taylor’s estate sources. Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best enjoyed on its own as a contemplative after-dinner wine, though it pairs wonderfully with toasted walnuts, dried figs, crème brûlée, pecan tart, and aged hard cheeses. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 12–16°C, and decanting is generally not necessary; gentle opening well before serving can help reveal the wine’s full aromatic depth.
