Abreu Las Posadas Proprietary Red 2012 is a striking Howell Mountain blend from one of Napa Valley’s most revered mountain sites. Built around Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, it reflects the power, precision, and singular character that have made David Abreu’s vineyards legendary among collectors.

In the glass, it shows an inky, deep purple core that hints at its concentration and intensity. The nose is layered and compelling, with mulberry, blackberry, blackcurrant, graphite, scorched earth, and smoldering charcoal, lifted by nuances of licorice and truffle. The palate is lavish and full-bodied, with immense depth, ripe dark fruit, and a mineral edge that gives the wine structure and focus. It is a dramatic, provocative wine with exceptional presence and significant aging potential, and should continue to evolve gracefully for many years.

Viininvalmistus
Las Posadas comes from Howell Mountain vineyards planted above the fog line at more than 600 meters elevation, where the vines are protected by surrounding pine and fir forests. The soils are notably complex and well suited to premium viticulture, and only a portion of the 13-hectare estate has been converted to vine plantings so far. The wine is produced as a single-vineyard expression with the meticulous care associated with David Abreu’s farming, and the final blend brings together Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with richly flavored dishes such as grilled ribeye, roasted lamb, venison, or braised short ribs, as well as mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours to allow the aromatics and structure to fully open.
