Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs 2014 is a benchmark California red from one of Dry Creek Valley’s most celebrated old-vine sites. Built around Zinfandel and supported by Petite Sirah, Carignane, and Mataro, it delivers the depth, structure, and personality that have made this wine a classic since Ridge first began producing it in 1972.

In the glass, this is a deeply colored, almost inky red wine that immediately signals concentration. The nose opens with ripe blackberry, blood orange, pepper, liquorice, tobacco leaf, and dried flowers, creating a layered and expressive aromatic profile. On the palate, it is broad and full-bodied, with generous fruit wrapped around spice, dark berry richness, and a savory edge that gives the wine real character. Everything feels in balance, with impressive persistence and the kind of structure that suggests it will continue to evolve beautifully over the next several years.

Viininvalmistus
Lytton Springs Vineyard sits in Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County, an area known for producing powerful, characterful Zinfandel-based wines from warm-climate vineyards with a strong sense of place. The fruit was sustainably farmed and fully destemmed before fermentation, then aged in American oak, including around 10% new barrels and the rest between one and four years old, giving the wine polish without overwhelming its fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural match for grilled or roasted meats, slow-cooked lamb, barbecue, and rich dishes with herbs and spice, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about an hour to let the aromatics and texture open up fully.
