Praised by James Halliday as being right at the top of what the region can do, this single-vineyard Shiraz delivers power and depth with a more restrained, cool-climate feel than the typical Australian fruit bomb.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Doyen shows a deeply dark, almost inky colour that hints at its concentration. The nose is layered with dark cherries, plums, blackcurrants, cedarwood, menthol, and integrated oak, giving it both richness and lift. On the palate, it opens with blackcurrant, plum, and cranberry, followed by notes of cinnamon and white pepper that add complexity and a refined spicy edge. Despite its intensity, this wine has a cooler, more elegant profile than many Australian Shirazes, with fine structure and multiple layers rather than sheer weight alone. It already drinks beautifully, but its balance, depth, and complexity suggest excellent aging potential over the coming years.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Shiraz is a natural partner for grilled lamb, roast beef, venison, and slow-cooked dishes with herbs and peppery seasoning. It also works well with mature hard cheeses or rich mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 1 hour if drinking young to let the aromas and structure fully open up.
