Chateau Guiraud Sauternes 1er Grand Cru Classé 2020 is a classic expression of one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated sweet wine styles. Made from botrytised Sauvignon Blanc-grown fruit and crafted in the prestigious Sauternes appellation, it combines richness, freshness, and remarkable complexity in the glass. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it stands among the historic benchmarks of the region.

In the glass, this Sauternes shows a luminous golden hue, a clear sign of its concentration and botrytised character. The bouquet is generous and layered, opening with aromas of noble rot, citrus, baked apple tart, vanilla, and ripe tropical fruit, all woven together with a delicate sweetness. On the palate, it is intense and beautifully textured, with a honeyed finish that lingers long after each sip. The balance between sweetness, freshness, and a spicy closing note gives the wine real depth and elegance. While already expressive now, it also has excellent aging potential, developing greater complexity over time.

Viininvalmistus
Produced in the heart of Sauternes in Bordeaux, Chateau Guiraud benefits from a terroir ideally suited to the development of botrytis cinerea, the noble rot that defines the region’s finest sweet wines. Since 1995, the estate has been farmed organically, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture. Harvesting is done entirely by hand in several passes through the vineyard, with only berries affected by botrytis selected. Fermentation takes place in new oak barrels over a period of three weeks to two months, followed by aging on lees in barrel for 18 to 24 months, depending on the vintage.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is a natural match for blue cheeses, foie gras, and fruit-based desserts, where its sweetness and acidity can shine alongside rich or tangy flavors. It is best served well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, to preserve its freshness and aromatic precision. Decanting is generally not necessary, but opening the bottle shortly before serving can help the wine unfold more fully in the glass.
