Château Latour 2011

Château Latour 2011 is a classic Pauillac that captures the estate’s signature precision, depth, and understated power. Often overlooked compared with more assertive vintages, it stands out for its purity, structure, and aristocratic balance, offering a refined expression of one of Bordeaux’s most legendary estates. In the glass, Château Latour 2011 shows a deep, dark colour that hints at its serious structure and concentrated fruit. The nose is elegant and complex, with layers of blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, and tobacco, alongside a cool mineral edge that speaks clearly of great Pauillac terroir. On the palate, the wine is focused and finely sculpted, with ripe dark fruit framed by firm, well-integrated tannins and a vivid backbone of acidity. Rather than sheer power, it delivers tension, finesse, and length, with the Cabernet Sauvignon bringing classic structure and lift. While already beginning to open, this is still a wine with many years ahead of it and significant ageing potential.

Château Latour’s vineyards are rooted in the gravelly soils of Pauillac, especially around the historic L'Enclos, where Cabernet Sauvignon thrives thanks to excellent drainage and ideal ripening conditions. The 2011 vintage was shaped by careful vineyard work and strict selection, with only the best fruit making it into the final blend, which is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and supported by Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Winemaking follows the estate’s precise, terroir-driven philosophy, aimed at preserving purity, structure, and the distinct identity of each parcel.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with rich, savoury dishes such as roast lamb, beef Wellington, grilled ribeye, or duck with dark sauces. It also works well with mature hard cheeses and truffle-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended to help the wine gradually reveal its full aromatic complexity, especially if enjoyed in its younger years.
