Château Talbot 1989

Château Talbot 1989 is a beautifully mature Saint-Julien that captures the estate’s signature blend of elegance, depth, and classic Bordeaux structure. From one of the largest and most prestigious properties in the appellation, this 4ème Cru Classé offers a refined expression of Cabernet Franc-led Bordeaux from an outstanding vintage.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep opaque ruby-garnet color with the gentle signs of maturity. The nose opens with concentrated black fruit, spice, and lifted cedar notes, evolving into more savory nuances of tobacco, dried herbs, and subtle leather with air. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, supple, and layered, with a rich core of dark fruit framed by polished tannins and a long, elegant finish. It is more graceful than massive, with the balance and freshness to have aged well over time; today, it should offer complex tertiary notes while still retaining structure and detail.

Viininvalmistus
Château Talbot sits on the gravelly soils of Saint-Julien, near the Gironde estuary, where the maritime influence helps temper the climate and support slow, even ripening. The estate’s vineyards are carefully managed parcel by parcel, and the grapes are harvested when fully ripe to preserve the finesse and balance for which the appellation is known. Vinification is carried out with a focus on extracting richness while maintaining elegance, followed by élevage in oak to build texture, complexity, and age-worthiness.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, and mushroom-based dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended if the bottle is still showing youthful structure or sediment, though well-aged bottles may only need a gentle splash just before serving.

Château Talbot has a long and distinguished history in Saint-Julien, taking its name from Connétable Talbot, the English military commander defeated at Castillon in 1453. Classified as a 4th Growth in the 1855 Médoc classification, the estate has been owned by the Cordier family since 1918 and is now run by the fifth generation of the Bignon-Cordier family. It remains one of the most respected names in Bordeaux, known for producing wines of consistency, polish, and classic Saint-Julien charm.
