Conti Costanti Vermiglio 2014

Conti Costanti Vermiglio 2014 is a refined, almost Burgundian expression of Sangiovese from the hills of Montalcino in Tuscany. Produced only in select vintages from declassified Brunello fruit, it offers a lighter, more supple and elegant style than Brunello, while still carrying the depth and character that make this estate so highly regarded.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Vermiglio 2014 shows a bright, transparent ruby hue that speaks to its finesse rather than power. The bouquet is graceful and layered, opening with strawberry, cherry and raspberry, followed by forest floor, cocoa and a touch of vanilla from time in large old oak casks. The palate is silky and precise, with fresh red berry fruit, fine acidity and a subtle earthy complexity that gives the wine real structure. It finishes long and poised, with the balance to drink beautifully now and the concentration to develop further over the next several years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from high-altitude vineyards east of the town of Montalcino, where cooler conditions help preserve freshness, aromatic lift and an elegant tannic profile. The wine is made only in selected years from fruit that does not go into Brunello, and it matures for one year less than Brunello in large, used oak barrels, allowing the purity of Sangiovese to shine through with minimal wood influence.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve at 16-18°C and consider a short decant if drinking it young to let the aromatics unfold. It pairs especially well with roasted poultry, mushroom risotto, grilled pork, game birds and Tuscan-style dishes with herbs, tomato and olive oil.
