Domaine Chanzy Bouzeron Clos de La Fortune 2021 is a vibrant and characterful expression of Aligoté from one of Bourgogne’s most distinctive communes. Sourced from the renowned Clos de la Fortune vineyard, this wine combines brisk freshness with a mineral edge, showing why Aligoté—often overlooked in Burgundy—can deliver outstanding value in the right hands. The vineyard’s south-east-facing slope and the name’s Latin root, meaning fortune and joy, suit the wine perfectly.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is a bright, lively white with a clear, youthful appearance that hints at its energetic style. The nose is fresh and expressive, with crisp citrus, green orchard fruit, and subtle floral notes, underpinned by a clean mineral tone. The palate is marked by refreshing acidity and a juicy, lively core, with a precise, stony finish that gives the wine real definition. Gentle lees ageing and partial maturation in a mix of large and smaller used barrels add texture without overshadowing the wine’s freshness. While already highly enjoyable now, it should hold well for a few years and may gain additional complexity with short to medium-term cellaring.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from Bouzeron, a commune in which Aligoté is the signature variety, grown here on a well-regarded south-east-facing slope in Clos de la Fortune. The vineyard benefits from Bourgogne’s cool-climate conditions and mineral-driven soils, helping to preserve the grape’s natural acidity and freshness. The fruit is gently pressed, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel before the wine rests on its lees in a combination of large and smaller used barrels to build texture and depth.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent partner for oysters, shellfish, grilled white fish, goat’s cheese, light poultry dishes, and fresh salads with citrus or herbs. Serve chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, to best show its freshness and precision. Decanting is not necessary, though a little time in the glass can help the wine open up.

Maison Domaine Chanzy was founded by Daniel Chanzy in Bouzeron in 1974, with a vision of creating Côte Chalonnaise wines that could stand alongside the prestige of the Côte d’Or. Today, Chanzy is one of the leading producers in the Côte Chalonnaise, with vineyard holdings in Bouzeron, Rully, Givry, Mercurey, and beyond. Since the estate’s acquisition in 2013 by a group of Burgundy wine lovers, it has expanded significantly and is now known for its careful, sustainable viticulture and polished, high-value wines.
