Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s Romanée St. Vivant 2010 is a rare and highly sought-after expression of Burgundy, crafted by one of the most revered names in fine wine. Made from Pinot Noir in Vosne-Romanée, it combines precision, perfume, and depth, with the kind of elegance and finesse that have made DRC a benchmark for Grand Cru Burgundy. The vineyard itself has deep historical roots, first mentioned as far back as 1232 in connection with the monks of Saint-Vivant.

The 2010 vintage shows remarkable aromatic lift and complexity, with Robert Parker describing a dazzling bouquet of sweet spices, red berries, dried flowers, and mint. On the palate, it is captivating and beautifully textured, balancing exotic fruit, savory nuance, and a silky, refined structure. The finish is especially striking for its length and finesse, suggesting exceptional aging potential well into 2030–2050 and beyond for well-stored bottles. In the glass, expect a graceful, translucent ruby color typical of great Pinot Noir, with an aromatic profile that unfolds slowly over time. While already compelling, this is a wine built for patience, gaining further nuance, harmony, and depth with extended cellaring.

Romanée St. Vivant comes from one of the most prestigious Grand Cru holdings in Burgundy, in the heart of Vosne-Romanée, where Domaine de la Romanée-Conti works exclusively with Grand Cru vineyards. The estate farms its sites organically, with biodynamic principles increasingly incorporated, and uses massal selection from historic vines to preserve character and complexity. Harvesting is done by hand, followed by rigorous sorting, spontaneous fermentation in large old wooden vats, and élevage in new oak barrels for around 16 to 18 months, with minimal intervention in the cellar to let the terroir speak clearly.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best served slightly cool, around 16–18°C, this wine deserves thoughtful food pairings such as roast duck, quail, pigeon, venison, or earthy mushroom dishes. Its delicacy and perfume also make it a superb match for truffled cuisine or fine poultry with rich sauces. Decanting is recommended only if the bottle is young and tightly wound; otherwise, a gentle opening in advance is often enough to let the wine evolve naturally in the glass.
