Fattorie Le Pupille Saffredi 2022 is the estate’s flagship wine and one of the most admired super-Tuscan reds from Maremma. Crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, it reflects Elisabetta Geppetti’s ambition to create a great wine in southern Tuscany, with invaluable guidance from legendary oenologist Giacomo Tachis. Named in dedication to Fredi, the person who first sparked Elisabetta’s passion for wine, Saffredi carries both personal meaning and serious prestige.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Saffredi typically shows a deep, concentrated ruby color that hints at its structure and depth. The bouquet is expressive and layered, with ripe dark berries, black cherry, and plum joined by notes of Mediterranean herbs, tobacco, cedar, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and refined, with ripe tannins, impressive balance, and a core of dark fruit supported by freshness and mineral tension. The blend gives the wine both richness and elegance, while the oak-aging adds polish and complexity without overpowering the fruit. Saffredi comes from Maremma in southern Tuscany, a coastal area known for its warm climate, maritime influence, and soils that help deliver both ripeness and freshness. The grapes are carefully selected from the estate’s vineyards and harvested by hand to preserve quality and precision. Vinification is carried out with a focus on extracting depth, structure, and aromatic complexity, followed by maturation in oak to build texture and harmony in the finished wine.
