Franz Keller Enselberg Spätburgunder Premier Cru 2023 is a benchmark Pinot Noir from one of Baden’s most celebrated sites, delivering the precision, depth, and mineral drive that make Kaiserstuhl Spätburgunder so distinctive. Sourced from the steep, dramatic Enselberg vineyard, it combines volcanic and tuff-rich soils with a naturally cool exposure, resulting in a wine of remarkable tension and finesse. Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a bright, elegant ruby hue that hints at its freshness and inner energy. The nose unfolds with layers of raspberry, red cherry, cranberry, forest floor, subtle smoke, gentle spice, and a pronounced stony/mineral edge.
On the palate, it is compact and tightly structured, yet carried by a silky texture and vivid cool-climate acidity. Fine-grained tannins frame the red fruit, while notes of graphite, chalky minerality, and a faint balsamic freshness add complexity and length. This is a wine built for time, with excellent aging potential over the next 8–15 years, developing greater depth, savoury nuance, and aromatic complexity with cellaring.
Viininvalmistus
The Enselberg vineyard in Kaiserstuhl is defined by steep slopes, volcanic and tuff-based soils, and a site that captures both ripeness and cool mineral precision. Grapes are harvested selectively to preserve freshness and site expression, and the wine is spontaneously fermented, with a portion of whole clusters used to enhance aromatic lift and structure. It is then matured in high-quality barriques, a careful élevage that adds shape and complexity without masking the purity of the fruit.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir is an excellent match for dishes that echo its finesse and structure, such as roast duck, quail, venison, mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, or seared salmon with earthy sides. Serve it slightly cool, ideally at 15–17°C, to highlight its freshness and aromatic detail. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the wine to open fully and soften its firm structure.
