Gutzler Kleiner Fränkischer Burgunder trocken 2020 is a distinctive German Pinot Noir made from one of the country’s most historically intriguing old Burgundian varieties. Once nearly lost to time and now rediscovered, this wine brings together heritage, precision, and a quietly expressive style that feels both traditional and contemporary.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a refined, dark-fruited profile with a polished, elegant appearance. The nose opens with delicate aromas of blackberry and wild forest berries, lifted by subtle spice and a hint of pepper. On the palate, it is deep and concentrated, with dark berry fruit at the core, savory spice, and a firm tannic frame that gives the wine shape and structure. The overall impression is one of clarity and depth rather than heaviness, and it should reward a few years of cellaring as its complexity continues to unfold.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes are hand-harvested selectively and handled with great care to preserve the character of this historic variety. After destemming, the must undergoes a traditional 12-day maceration on the skins, followed by a gentle pressing at very low pressure. The wine is then aged for 16 months in second-use barriques, resting on the lees to build texture and complexity, with only a minimal addition of sulfur at bottling to maintain authenticity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for roast duck, game birds, mushroom dishes, venison, or herb-roasted pork, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 16-18°C, and decanting is recommended if the wine is young or if you want to help open up its spice and darker fruit notes.
