Hacienda Monasterio Reserva 2019 is a distinguished Ribera del Duero from one of Spain’s most respected estates, made only in select vintages and drawn from the winery’s oldest Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon vines. With its focus on exceptional fruit, eastern exposure, and thoughtful oak ageing, this is a Reserva that combines depth and structure with surprising charm and drinkability. It reflects the estate’s top-tier expression of Castilla y León, with a style rooted in careful selection and precision.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Reserva shows a deep, dark, intense color, yet it avoids heaviness. The nose opens gradually with ripe red berries, dark fruit, and subtle mineral nuances, followed by well-integrated oak, spice, and a touch of warmth from the wine’s natural power. On the palate, it is juicy and concentrated, with mature berry fruit taking the lead as the wine breathes. The tannins are polished, the oak is already well woven into the wine, and the finish is long, balanced, and refined. While it is already highly enjoyable now, the 2019 vintage has the structure and depth to develop further complexity over the next decade.

Viininvalmistus
This Reserva comes from around 8 hectares of Hacienda Monasterio’s oldest vines, planted with Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon on an east-facing slope in Castilla y León, where deep root systems draw character from the subsoil and help shape the wine’s mineral profile. The grapes are carefully sorted, with the best clusters set aside and the rest destemmed and sorted again before fermentation in small stainless-steel tanks, partly with up to 25% whole clusters and only native yeasts. After fermentation, the wine rests for 3–5 weeks in tank before ageing 19–20 months in French Allier oak barrels, around 30% of them new, and is bottled without fining or filtration.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve this Reserva with roast lamb, grilled beef, venison, or rich mushroom dishes, as well as aged Manchego and other firm, nutty cheeses. The ideal serving temperature is 16–18°C, and while decanting is not strictly necessary, allowing the wine to breathe for 1–2 hours can help open its aromas and soften the structure, especially if enjoyed young.
