La Spia Alpi Retiche Chiavennasca Bianco 2024 is a distinctive white wine from Lombardy that showcases the unexpected versatility of Chiavennasca, the local name for Nebbiolo. Crafted in the Alpi Retiche IGT, it brings together hand-harvested fruit, a thoughtful mix of stainless steel and oak fermentation, and careful ageing on the lees for a wine with both finesse and character.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a straw-yellow colour with subtle golden highlights. The nose is delicate and inviting, opening with hawthorn blossom and white peach before evolving into fresh hazelnut and ripe Golden Delicious apple. On the palate, it feels pleasantly warm, lightly savoury, and persistent, with a rounded mouthfeel and a notably complex finish. The balance of freshness, texture, and gentle oak influence suggests good short- to medium-term ageing potential, during which its nutty and mineral nuances should become even more expressive.

Viininvalmistus
Produced from Chiavennasca (Nebbiolo) along with Pignola Valtellinese and Rossola Nera, this wine comes from the alpine vineyards of the Alpi Retiche in Lombardy, where cool mountain conditions help preserve aroma and freshness. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and whole clusters are pressed pneumatically to obtain the free-run juice, keeping the extraction soft and precise. Fermentation is split 50% in stainless steel tanks and 50% in acacia and oak barrels, followed by about six months of ageing on the lees in oak with twice-weekly bâtonnage to build texture and complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a versatile white wine that works beautifully with seafood, grilled fish, shellfish, risotto, and poultry, as well as alpine cheeses and dishes with a subtle nutty or herbal character. Serve it at 10–12°C to best show its aromatic lift and creamy texture; decanting is not necessary, though a short period in the glass will help the bouquet open up.
