Marques del Hueco Reserva Cosecha 2014, Rioja

Marques del Hueco Reserva Cosecha 2014 is a classic Rioja Reserva with the kind of depth and polish that only comes from time, care, and a family tradition spanning more than a century. Built primarily on Tempranillo, with supporting roles from Mazuelo and Graciano, it combines elegance, intensity, and a distinctly Rioja sense of place.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Reserva shows the classic deep ruby-to-garnet tones expected from mature Rioja. The bouquet opens with ripe cherries and plums, layered with vanilla from oak ageing and subtle earthy, terroir-driven notes underneath. On the palate, the wine is all about supple, mature fruit framed by leather, liquorice, and gentle vanilla spice. The texture is silky and refined, with a long finish that invites another sip. Enjoyable now, it also has the structure and balance to develop further over the next 15 years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from Rioja Alta, one of the most respected parts of La Rioja, where climate and soils are especially well suited to producing wines of finesse and character. The fruit is harvested by hand and carefully sorted before vinification, ensuring only the best grapes make it into the wine. Following traditional Rioja practice, the wine is aged for 18 months in oak, which adds complexity and a more restrained, elegant oak profile.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Reserva pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled beef, braised short ribs, game, and mature sheep’s cheese, as well as mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if you want to soften the wine further and let the aromas fully open up.

Marques del Hueco is made by Bodegas Heras Cordón, a family producer with more than 100 years of winemaking history in Rioja. Based in Rioja Alta, the estate is known for focusing exclusively on red wines and for preserving a traditional, quality-first approach that highlights the region’s character. Their careful hand-harvesting, strict selection, and classic élevage have earned them a strong reputation for authentic Rioja wines with elegance and depth.
