Masi Campofiorin 2023 is one of Valpolicella’s most iconic traditional reds, crafted by Masi Agricola using the winery’s signature double-fermentation technique. Made from Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara, it combines regional character with a richer, more structured style that has made Campofiorin a benchmark wine since its first release in 1964.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Campofiorin typically shows a deep ruby-red color with a vibrant, youthful sheen. The nose is expressive and layered, offering ripe red cherry, plum, dried herbs, spice, and subtle hints of cocoa and sweet oak. On the palate, it is smooth, rounded, and medium-bodied, with juicy red and dark fruit framed by soft tannins and a gentle touch of warmth from its double fermentation. The semi-dried grapes add extra depth, giving the wine a supple, slightly rich texture and a long, harmonious finish. While approachable now, it can also develop nicely over the next few years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes for Campofiorin come from Veneto, with Corvina as the dominant variety, supported by Rondinella and Molinara. Harvest begins in the second half of September, followed by Masi’s classic double-fermentation method: fresh grapes are vinified first, then 25% semi-dried grapes are added for a second fermentation that lasts around 15 days at a controlled temperature of 18–20°C. The wine is then aged for at least 18 months, mostly in large Slavonian oak casks with a smaller portion in new Allier and Slavonian oak, before an additional three months in bottle.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Campofiorin pairs beautifully with roasted meats, grilled steak, braised beef, game, and rich pasta dishes such as pappardelle with meat sauce. It also works well with aged cheeses and hearty Mediterranean dishes. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting for 30 minutes can help the wine open up and show its full aromatic depth.
