McLaren Doyen Single Vineyard Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 is a rare, single-vineyard expression from Arakoon, crafted in tiny quantities and full of poise. Sourced from the Doyen Vineyard in Willunga, McLaren Vale, it stands out for its elegance, precision, and distinctly restrained style rather than the overripe power often associated with Australian Cabernet. This is a wine that captures both the character of its exceptional site and the classic structure that makes Cabernet Sauvignon such a benchmark grape.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark colour that hints at its concentrated yet composed personality. The nose opens with dark cherry, blackcurrant, pencil lead, dried spices, and cedar, all delivered with impressive clarity and class. The palate mirrors the aromatics beautifully, with layers of dark fruit framed by fine structure and a balanced, elegant feel. There is plenty of depth and presence, but the wine remains refined rather than heavy, and it has excellent aging potential for those willing to cellar it and watch it evolve over time.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the Doyen Vineyard in Willunga, within McLaren Vale in South Australia, where rich, fertile soils and a near-ideal climate help Cabernet Sauvignon reach full expression. The vineyard’s single-site focus allows the fruit to reflect its terroir clearly, with the region’s warmth tempered by enough balance to preserve freshness and structure. Only around 200 cases are produced, underscoring the limited, carefully selected nature of the wine.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted beef, lamb, venison, and other richly flavoured meats, as well as hard cheeses and earthy mushroom dishes. Serve it at around 16–18°C to let the aromatics and structure unfold properly, and decanting for about an hour is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, to give the wine even more room to breathe.
