Son Prim Merlot 2021

Son Prim Merlot 2021 is a beautifully crafted, pure Merlot that delivers remarkable depth, softness, and balance at the price. Grown in Mallorca and made with clear attention to detail, it shows the generous, plush character that Merlot lovers seek, while still keeping a polished, classic profile. The wine reflects the hands-on approach of the Llabrés family and the care that has made Son Prim a respected name on the island.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it presents a deep, dark ruby colour that hints at its concentration and richness. The nose is expressive and layered, with aromas of dark cherry, cassis, violets, orange peel, black olives, and a subtle leathery edge. On the palate, it is full-bodied and supple, with plenty of dark and red fruit framed by excellent balance and a smooth, rounded texture. The oak ageing adds structure and complexity without overpowering the fruit, giving the wine a classic Merlot character with real ageing potential. It is already highly enjoyable now, but will reward a few more years in bottle.

Viininvalmistus
Son Prim Merlot 2021 comes from Mallorca, where the Mediterranean climate and local growing conditions help shape a wine with both ripeness and freshness. The grapes are harvested by hand, and the bunches are sorted manually first in the vineyard and then again at the winery to ensure only the best fruit is used. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by 12 months of ageing in French, American, and Hungarian oak barrels, and a further 6 months resting in bottle before release.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Merlot pairs well with roasted lamb, grilled beef, duck, mushroom dishes, and rich Mediterranean cuisine. It also works nicely with aged cheeses and herb-driven dishes. Serve at around 16-18°C, and decant for 30-60 minutes if drinking now to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
