Weingut Friedrich Becker’s 'Laisser Faire' Riesling 2023 is a characterful, instinct-driven white wine that lets the vintage speak for itself. Fermented naturally until it stopped on its own, it balances a semi-dry profile with impressive intensity, showing how precision and restraint can create something truly distinctive. Sourced from some of the best Riesling sites near Schweigen in the limestone-rich Pfalz, it’s a modern take on Riesling with a quietly historic respect for nature and terroir.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a golden hue that hints at its depth and ripeness. The nose is vivid and layered, with lime, grapefruit, peach and mirabelle, lifted by a subtle wild-ferment character that recalls a touch of Belgian farmhouse beer. On the palate, the wine is sleek and mineral-driven, with the fruit aromas carrying through clearly over a firm, saline backbone. Despite around 15 g/l of residual sugar, it reads as more off-dry than sweet, with tension and freshness keeping everything in check. It should drink beautifully now, but also has enough structure and balance to develop further over the next few years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from top Riesling vineyards near Schweigen in the Pfalz, where limestone-rich soils give the wine its distinct mineral edge. The fruit is fermented in large 2,400-liter casks, and the fermentation is allowed to run naturally until it stops on its own, resulting in a wine that finished with about 15 g/l residual sugar. This hands-off approach captures both the purity of the site and the individuality of the vintage.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a versatile food wine that works especially well with spicy Asian dishes, roast chicken, seafood, freshwater fish, and dishes with a gentle touch of sweetness or acidity. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to preserve its freshness and aromatic lift. Decanting is not necessary, though a little time in the glass will help the wine open up and show more of its mineral and fruit complexity.
