Weingut Friedrich Becker’s Zensiert Kammerberg Pinot Noir Grand Cru 2017 is a compelling expression of German Pinot Noir with a story as distinctive as its character. Born from the unique situation of vineyards straddling the German-French border, it combines Burgundian finesse with Pfalz precision, offering a wine of notable elegance, depth, and a quietly rebellious identity.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a translucent ruby-garnet color typical of refined Pinot Noir. The nose opens with wild cherries, red currants, and cranberry, layered with subtle smoky oak, dried herbs, tea leaf, and a stony, chalky mineral edge. The palate is cool, focused, and beautifully textured, with silken tannins and vibrant acidity giving the wine a lifted, precise feel. Red fruit carries through the mid-palate, joined by savory spice and a faint earthy nuance, while the finish is long, linear, and mineral-driven. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, likely to develop further complexity over the next decade or more.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from top parcels near Schweigen in the southern Pfalz, including Kammerberg, where the soils are shaped by limestone and sandstone and, in effect, reflect the borderland terroir between Germany and France. The fruit is harvested by hand, then fermented spontaneously with a high proportion of whole clusters to preserve freshness, perfume, and structure. The wine is matured for around 18 months in French barriques, with only a small share of new oak, allowing the vineyard character and mineral precision to remain at the forefront.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roast duck, pheasant, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, or veal with a light cream or herb sauce. Serve it at around 14–16°C, and decant briefly if young to help open the aromatics and soften the structure, though it can also be enjoyed straight from the bottle with a little time in the glass.
