Aalto 2023 Dobbeltmagnum

Aalto 2023 Dobbeltmagnum is a bold yet finely tuned expression of Ribera del Duero, showing why this producer has become one of the region’s most respected names. Crafted from old-vine Tinto Fino and guided by the hand of Mariano García, it combines impressive depth and concentration with remarkable freshness and control. The result is a modern Spanish red with serious presence, but also precision and elegance.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Aalto 2023 is deep and densely coloured, with the kind of dark, almost opaque ruby tone you expect from a wine of this scale. The nose opens with ripe cherry, plum and blackberry, layered with spice, coffee, liquorice and subtle oak influence. On the palate, it delivers rich dark fruit wrapped in a full, structured frame, yet the tannins are beautifully polished and silky. A cool, vibrant line runs through the wine, keeping everything in balance and leading to a long, precise finish. It is already highly enjoyable now, but it also has the structure to evolve gracefully over the next 8–12 years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from 40- to 80-year-old vines in Castilla y León, with the exact terroir of Ribera del Duero contributing to the wine’s depth, concentration and natural freshness. The 2023 vintage benefited from both warm spells and cooler periods, helping the fruit ripen fully while preserving balance and vitality. The 100% Tinto Fino grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously selected before vinification, followed by around 17 months of ageing in French and American oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a powerful red that pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, game, grilled ribeye or slow-cooked dishes with rich sauces. It also works well with mature Manchego or other firm, aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young, to allow the wine to fully unfurl.

Aalto was founded in 1999 by Mariano García and Javier Zaccagnini, and quickly became one of the reference producers in Ribera del Duero. Mariano García is a legendary figure in Spanish wine, known for his long tenure at Vega Sicilia, and that pedigree is evident in Aalto’s combination of power, finesse and consistency. Today, the estate is widely regarded as one of the standout names in the region, especially for serious Tempranillo-based wines with depth and aging potential.
