Adelina Watervale Riesling 2022

Adelina Watervale Riesling 2022 is a finely crafted Clare Valley Riesling that shows a more generous, slightly rounder expression than its Polish Hill River sibling, while still remaining firmly on the dry side. Made from fruit grown in the Kloock vineyard in Watervale, it combines old-vine character, limestone-rich soils, and a distinctive style that pushes Riesling beyond the expected.

Makuprofiili
Pale and luminous in the glass, this Riesling opens with aromas of citrus, brown lime, dried apple, nuts, slate, and alpine herbs. There is also a subtle dusty texture on the nose and palate that gives the wine an intriguing, almost sake-like nuance. The palate is dry to very dry, yet it carries enough fruit weight to feel balanced and complete. Bright acidity keeps everything fresh and focused, while the wine’s layered texture and distinct personality give it real character. It should age well over the medium term, gaining further complexity and depth with time in bottle.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit for this wine comes from the Kloock vineyard in Watervale, Clare Valley, where nearly 30-year-old vines grow in loam soils with a strong limestone influence. Winemaker Colin McBryde destems the fruit before pressing and fermentation, then matures the juice in stainless steel before final bottle aging, preserving purity, tension, and varietal precision.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve this Riesling well chilled, ideally around 8-10°C. It is an excellent match for fresh oysters, sashimi, prawns, light Asian dishes, or simply delicate seafood and vegetable-based plates. Decanting is not necessary, but allowing the wine a little time in the glass can help reveal its aromatic complexity.
