Quinta Sardonia QS 2017 is a striking Ribera del Duero red that shows just how expressive this high-altitude terroir can be. Made from a blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon with Tempranillo, Merlot and smaller amounts of other Bordeaux varieties, it combines concentration, freshness and aromatic precision in a style that feels both powerful and polished. The estate’s biodynamic approach and limited production add to its appeal, while its roots in the ambitious vision of Peter Sisseck give it real historical interest.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, QS 2017 presents a deep, насыщенно-colored profile with ripe dark fruit at its core. The nose is layered and inviting, with blackberries, plums, warm spices, mocha and floral, perfumed nuances unfolding over time. On the palate, the wine is intensely aromatic and vibrantly structured, with concentrated berry fruit, spice and a refined oak signature supporting its expansive character. It finishes long and complex, with impressive energy and balance. This is a wine built for graceful aging, and it should continue to develop greater nuance over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
Quinta Sardonia lies just outside the official boundary of DO Ribera del Duero, on slopes planted between roughly 400 and 700–800 meters above sea level, where the altitude helps preserve freshness and aromatic lift. The estate covers around 20 hectares, of which 17 are planted, and is farmed according to strict biodynamic principles, with compost from the estate and treatments based on medicinal plants. After harvest, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel and then aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels, giving the wine its depth, structure and layered spice.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, slow-roasted beef, game, or rich mushroom dishes, as well as aged Manchego and other mature hard cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, to let the aromatics and structure fully open.

Quinta Sardonia was established in 2000 near Sardón de Duero, close to the great vineyards of western Ribera del Duero, and has quickly earned a reputation for producing wines of remarkable precision and character. Under the guidance associated with Peter Sisseck, the estate has become a benchmark for biodynamic viticulture in the region. Its early success, including a highly acclaimed 2004 vintage from very young vines, helped cement its status as one of Spain’s most exciting modern wine projects.
