Benanti Etna Rosso 2023

Benanti Etna Rosso 2023 is a refined expression of Sicily’s iconic volcanic slopes, crafted from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. From one of Etna’s most respected producers, this wine combines bright red-fruit character, elegant structure, and the smoky-mineral energy that has made Etna reds so distinctive and sought after.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a light ruby-red color with delicate violet reflections, hinting at its youthful freshness. The nose is generous and inviting, offering aromas of red berries and cherries, lifted by subtle notes of vanilla from its time in oak. On the palate, it is dry and well balanced, with vibrant acidity, gentle tannins, and a harmonious, medium-bodied feel. The wine finishes with good persistence and lingering red-fruit notes. While already approachable, it should also age gracefully over the next few years, gaining complexity and depth.

Viininvalmistus
Sourced from vineyards on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, the wine reflects the unique volcanic terroir that gives Etna reds their tension, finesse, and mineral edge. The grapes are fermented on the skins with extended maceration to build flavor and structure, then undergo malolactic fermentation before being transferred to small 225-liter barrels for 8–10 months of aging.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
A versatile red like this pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, grilled sausages, mushroom dishes, pasta with tomato-based sauces, and aged pecorino. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 16–18°C, to keep its freshness and aromatic lift. Decanting for about 30 minutes can help open the wine, especially if served young.
