Castello Banfi Magna Cum Laude 2023

Castello Banfi Magna Cum Laude 2023 is a polished and expressive Toscana IGT red that brings together Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, and Syrah in a style that feels both modern and rooted in place. Crafted to showcase the terroir of Montalcino, it offers depth, structure, and elegance, with Banfi’s hallmark attention to precision and balance.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep, насыщено ruby-red color that hints at its concentration and richness. The nose is complex and inviting, with layers of blackberry, plum jam, and alcohol-infused cherry, lifted by subtle notes of liquorice, black olive, and tobacco. On the palate, Magna Cum Laude is full-bodied and generous, with dense yet supple tannins that give the wine both power and refinement. The fruit is ripe and layered, supported by savory undertones and a well-judged oak influence. It has the structure to develop further in bottle over the coming years, gaining nuance and integration with time.

Viininvalmistus
The four grape varieties are vinified separately in combined Horizon steel tanks and wooden vats under controlled temperature, allowing each component to retain its own character before blending. A two-day cold pre-fermentation maceration helps draw out color and aroma, followed by maceration at 22°C until the final two days of alcoholic fermentation, when the temperature is raised to 27°C. The wine is then aged for six months in barrique and another six months in bottle, resulting in a layered, well-framed red that reflects the Montalcino terroir.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted red meats, game, braised dishes, and rich Tuscan fare such as pappardelle with wild boar ragù or aged cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 30–60 minutes to let its aromatic complexity and tannins open up fully.
