Château Lafite Rothschild 1980 is a classic expression of one of Bordeaux’s most legendary names. In the glass, the wine would now show the graceful evolution expected of a well-matured Bordeaux, with a lighter ruby-garnet hue and softened edges. On the nose, it offers moderately intense aromas of cassis, fresh tobacco, and subtle earthy complexity, while the palate is soft, harmonious, and charming, with a lighter frame and gently resolved tannins. The finish is elegant rather than forceful, making it a mature wine to enjoy for its delicacy and balance rather than long-term cellaring potential.

Château Lafite Rothschild sits on the deep gravel soils of Pauillac, a terroir perfectly suited to Cabernet-driven wines, where excellent drainage helps concentrate fruit and preserve freshness. The estate is known for meticulous vineyard work, strict yield control, and hand harvesting, with a strong emphasis on traditional methods and minimal intervention in the vineyard. Vinification follows careful selection and precise cellar work to preserve the purity and finesse that define Lafite’s style.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This mature red Bordeaux pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, or game birds, as well as mushroom-based preparations and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C for the best expression of its aromatic detail and texture, and consider a gentle decant shortly before serving to help it open up without losing its delicate older-vintage character.
