At this stage, the wine typically shows a deep garnet core with developing brick-red tones at the rim, a sign of graceful evolution. The nose is layered and expressive, unfolding with blackcurrant, cedar, spice box, floral accents, and hints of tobacco, leather, and fine pencil shavings. On the palate, it remains impressively full-bodied and structured, with ripe cassis fruit, refined tannins, and a polished, multi-dimensional texture. Viininvalmistus
Château Mouton Rothschild is rooted in the gravelly soils of Pauillac on the Médoc peninsula, where deep gravel over sand and clay provides excellent drainage and helps the vines ripen slowly and evenly. The estate’s vineyard is planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a small amount of Petit Verdot, with the final blend adjusted to suit the character of the vintage. Harvesting is done with meticulous selection, and vinification is carried out with the precision expected of a First Growth, preserving concentration, structure, and aromatic complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine for refined, richly flavored dishes such as roast lamb, beef Wellington, venison, truffle-based dishes, or mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and allow it to breathe for several hours before serving; a careful decant is recommended, especially if the bottle has been resting undisturbed for a long time.

He pioneered estate bottling at the château and introduced the now-famous tradition of commissioning artists to design the label each year. In 1973, Mouton was famously elevated to Premier Cru Classé status, a long-awaited recognition of its excellence and enduring influence in Bordeaux.
