Château d’Yquem is renowned for its luminous golden color, which deepens with age into amber tones. The 2009 shows remarkable richness and intensity, with aromas of apricot tart, apple crumble, caramel, crème brûlée, mango, papaya, sweet spices, and dried citrus. The 2015 is equally expressive, offering a vinous, polished profile that unfolds with dried fruit, spice, mushroom, and sweet fruit notes, all carried by a striking freshness. On the palate, both vintages combine opulence with precision: concentrated sweetness, vibrant acidity, and a long, layered finish that seems to last for minutes. The 2009 feels especially plush and expansive, while the 2015 shows a slightly more dynamic energy and youthful tension. Both are built for very long aging and will continue to evolve gracefully for decades, if not longer.

Viininvalmistus
Château d’Yquem sits on the highest hill in Sauternes, where the unique microclimate encourages the development of noble rot, or botrytis cinerea, on the grapes. The estate’s vineyards are planted mainly to Sémillon, with smaller amounts of Sauvignon Blanc, and the grapes are harvested by hand in multiple selective passes to pick only perfectly botrytized berries at peak concentration. This painstaking approach yields extremely low quantities but extraordinary complexity and balance. The wine is then vinified with great care to preserve freshness, texture, and aromatic purity, resulting in one of the world’s most iconic dessert wines.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve Château d’Yquem lightly chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, to allow its aromatic depth and freshness to shine. It pairs beautifully with blue cheese, foie gras, fruit-based desserts, tarte Tatin, crème brûlée, and dishes with salted caramel or almond notes. Decanting is generally not necessary for younger bottles, though very mature vintages may benefit from gentle aeration before serving.

Château d’Yquem is the most famous estate in Sauternes and the only wine from the region to have been awarded Premier Cru Supérieur status in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification.
