Franz Haas Manna 2024

Franz Haas Manna is one of the most distinctive white wines from Alto Adige, a finely tuned and unconventional cuvée that brings together Chardonnay, Kerner, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Traminer Aromatico. First introduced in 1995 and dedicated to Maria Luisa, it has become a signature wine for its originality, aromatic complexity, and elegant Alpine freshness.

Makuprofiili
Manna typically shows a pale straw-gold color with a luminous sheen, reflecting both its freshness and subtle depth. The bouquet is expressive and layered, with notes of ripe citrus, white peach, wild herbs, elderflower, and a delicate spice from the aromatic grape varieties, alongside a mineral lift that keeps the wine poised and precise. On the palate, it is vibrant and textured, combining the brightness of Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc with the roundness of Chardonnay and the floral, slightly exotic nuances of Traminer Aromatico. Kerner adds structure and freshness, giving the wine a graceful balance between generosity and tension. Manna can age beautifully for several years, gradually developing more honeyed, saline, and mineral complexities.

Viininvalmistus
Manna comes from the cool, high-altitude vineyards of Trentino-Alto Adige, where significant day-to-night temperature shifts help preserve acidity and aromatic clarity. The blend has evolved over time, with Kerner added from the 2013 vintage to enhance freshness and complexity while softening the proportions of Riesling and Gewürztraminer. The grapes are vinified separately to preserve each variety’s character before being carefully assembled into the final cuvée.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a versatile food wine that works especially well with refined dishes such as seafood risotto, roasted poultry, grilled shellfish, fresh goat cheese, and lightly spiced Asian cuisine. Serve it chilled at around 10–12°C to bring out its aromatic detail and clean structure. Decanting is generally not necessary, though a short aeration can help if the wine is served young.
