Domaine du Pégau’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 2023 captures the soul of the southern Rhône in a style that is both traditional and vividly expressive. Built around Grenache with supporting Syrah and Mourvèdre, it delivers the depth, spice, and old-vine character that have made this estate one of the appellation’s most respected names.

In the glass, this wine shows a deep ruby color with purplish edges, hinting at its youthful energy and concentration. The nose is generously aromatic, offering ripe red berries, blackberry, and cherry, layered with violet, rose petals, cracked pepper, and a fragrant garrigue note that brings a distinctly southern Rhône identity. The palate is plush yet structured, with soft tannins, juicy fruit, and a long, spicy finish that lingers beautifully. While already expressive and enjoyable now, it has the concentration and balance to develop additional complexity with time in bottle over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards shaped by warm Mediterranean sunshine and soils rich in rounded river stones, clay, and limestone, all of which help retain heat and support ripening. The fruit is harvested with care, then fermented spontaneously with native yeasts before aging for around two years in large foudres, a traditional approach that preserves freshness while building texture, harmony, and complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for grilled lamb, game, roasted meats, and mature cheeses, where its ripe fruit and savory spice can shine. Serve it at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about an hour if drinking young to let the aromas and structure open fully.
