Marques del Hueco Selección Viñas Viejas Cosecha 2018 is a beautifully elegant Rioja with a fresher, more lifted style than you might expect from the region. Made from old vines and crafted from a classic blend of Tempranillo, Mazuelo, and Graciano, it offers both depth and finesse, with a polished balance that reflects careful élevage. The wine is designed to show Rioja’s traditional character in a refined, contemporary way, while still honoring the region’s long history of age-worthy red wines.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is a deep, dark red wine with a youthful but settled appearance. The nose combines ripe dark fruit with brighter accents of citrus, layered over vanilla and subtle oak spice, giving it a fresh yet classic Rioja profile. The palate is elegant and structured, repeating the dark fruit from the nose and adding notes of dark chocolate, toffee, cinnamon, and a touch of refreshing citrus. The result is a wine with both richness and lift, finishing with good balance and a smooth, confident feel. It is drinking beautifully now and has the potential to age well for around 10 more years.

Viininvalmistus
This Rioja red comes from old vines, with grapes sourced from plants that have been in the ground for 17 to 24 years. The blend is 80% Tempranillo, 10% Mazuelo, and 10% Graciano, combining Rioja’s core varietal with two traditional supporting grapes that add freshness, structure, and aromatic lift. After fermentation, the wine spends 12 months aging in barrels and a further 12 months in bottle, helping it gain stability, integration, and a more polished expression before release.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs well with roasted lamb, grilled beef, braised short ribs, mature Manchego, or rich mushroom dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C for the best balance of fruit, spice, and structure. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if drinking young, as it will help open the aromatics and soften the tannins.
